La teleodontología y su contribución a la efectividad en el cuidado dental: una revisión del alcance

El objetivo del presente estudio fue verificar si la teleodontología contribuye a aumentar la eficacia de la atención odontológica. Se trata de una Revisión de Alcance, en la que se buscaron artículos en las bases de datos PubMed, Embase y SciELO, publicados hasta junio de 2023. En total se encontraron 336 artículos. Después de la exclusión de duplicados y la selección por lectura de títulos, resúmenes y texto completo, se evaluaron 22 estudios. Los artículos mostraron mucha heterogeneidad en relación a los tipos de estudio, objetivos y participantes. En su mayoría participaron odontólogos generales y especialistas. La modalidad de teleodontología más explorada fue la teleconsulta y la estomatología fue la especialidad con mayor aplicación. Según los artículos, la teleodontología contribuyó a aumentar la eficacia de la atención odontológica. Se concluye que la teleodontología, en sus diferentes modalidades, ha contribuido a incrementar la efectividad de la atención odontológica.
