Fundamental to the advancement of science, accessibility to scientific information is the motivation that gave rise to the Open Access. In Portugal, the Repositório Científico de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (RCAAP) collects Portuguese institutional repositories. However, these repositories have no policies, strategies or actions defined in the field of digital preservation. For this reason, RCAAP produced a report with nine recommendations for the digital preservation of the repositories. In this article, such recommendations are analyzed and a wide dissemination of their implementation is underlined.
