Knowledge is among the most valuable assets of today, raising the knowledge management to a level of prominence in organizations. One way of application of knowledge management is through communities of practice, bringing together individuals who share a concern, a set of problems or a passion for a subject, and deepen their knowledge through the same interactions. As part of the learning communities Virtual Learning Environments are another option for practical application of knowledge management. But focuses on processes and learning management or content, disregarding the potential of knowledge present in the entire institution. This paper presents a hybrid structure between AVAs and Virtual Communities to support the use of Communities of Practice in Institutional Portals. This work is based on exploratory studies in areas of Communities of Practice and Virtual Learning Environments resulting in a "conceptual framework" of relations between the tools of the AVA and the interactions between members of the CoP.References
