Healthy eating and quality of life: media phenomenon in the city

The main purpose of this article is to discuss, in the contemporary universe of the city, representations about healthy eating and quality of life and their relations with media narratives about the construction of tendencies concerned to this communicational phenomenon that influences and circulates in the social body. Conflicts between choices that hide in the social game the access and consumption of goods reveals faces of a symbolic violence, especially regarding the construction of a pattern to be followed. As examples, we present and analyze throughout this study discourses extract from: the texts of the magazine Vida Simples, published by Editora Abril; the TV program Mais Você, transmitted by Rede Globo; and Marcio Atalla’s comments on the radio, broadcasted by CBN station.
