This article investigates how the Brazilian press covers the problem of psychological distress and mental disorders among university students. To this end, it was selected a corpus composed of 53 journalistic articles published by online media in Brazil on the subject of mental health at the university from 2017 to 2019. The texts were analyzed with the objective of identifying narrative patterns about student suffering, what is the profie of the students who appear in the articles, who are the professionals and experts whose opinions on the topic are considered legitimate and which data and knowledge are used by the articles to support their information. The study indicates that the student suffering is codifid, in the analyzed articles, from the perspective of medicalization and there are few references to the socioeconomic and political context in which the malaise is caused.Downloads
