This work discusses the implementation of BioProvider, a tool that efficiently provides data for biological applications. It uses ad-hoc buffer management policies and specific process scheduling control to deal with very large sequence data. We explain how to consider a non-intrusive approach in order to encourage the use of BioProvider in a transparent way while keeping the original applications unchanged. The first instantiation of BioProvider is tailored to BLAST, the most popular sequence comparison program.Downloads
