Uncertainties and dangers of infectious diseases experienced by today's society call into question the health systems, changing the international health status of the population. Interdisciplinary actions are necessary for the understanding of the problems so that the completeness of health care can make progress. This study aims to demonstrate the importance of biologist in health, to discuss the occupational risks they run, the importance of biosafety to control/prevent these risks and the insertion of the theme in the university. We judge that health education programs promote technical and scientific knowledge as the only knowledge about health with validity, instead of proposing an interdisciplinary approach. It is necessary that educational programs produce a transdisciplinary conceptual formulation, in order for the development of contextual knowledge that will contribute to train professionals capable of working in dangerous contexts. We hope to contribute to thinkers reflect on the biosafety relevance to the biologist training, and also to an educational development committed to build a sustainable society.
