Care practices: feminist perspectives on caring in a collective of herbalists

This article, derived from a master's thesis, aims to analyze three feminist perspectives on the notion of care, based on the practices of a collective called Grãos de Luz that works with medicinal plants in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro. The three theoretical approaches to care provide different, but not mutually exclusive, perspectives: eco-feminist; ethical-political; and care as a community strategy. The ethnographic study, with participant observation and semi-structured interviews, reveals the possibility of reframing the idea of care, often used to exercise power and domination.
