This essay discusses how the involvement of communication professionals in processes related to health, connected through networks and an interdisciplinary system of cooperation, can create opportunities for communication and strengthening processes in integrated health care. The experiences of the communications advisory group, which includes the United Network (Rede Unida) and other partner agencies dedicated to promoting initiatives to enhance the National Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde – SUS), demonstrate the importance of communicating and using public health as a way to promote the quality of life of the population. Shared management, permanent education and more active social participation according to the guidelines followed by the SUS are all essential.Downloads
