Discriminación por edad en los medios de comunicación en el contexto de la pandemia de covid-19: una revisión integrativa

La pandemia de covid-19, con más de seis millones de muertes en todo el mundo, ha tenido un impacto desproporcionado en los grupos desfavorecidos, incluida la población de edad avanzada, que se ha enfrentado a tasas de mortalidad crecientes y aislamiento social. Los estereotipos y prejuicios contra las personas mayores se han intensificado, lo que pone de relieve la necesidad de combatir la discriminación por edad. El estudio que aquí se presenta tiene como objetivo investigar la discriminación por edad en los medios de comunicación durante la pandemia, a través de una revisión integrativa de la literatura. Se analizaron 28 artículos seleccionados de diversas bases de datos, siguiendo los criterios PRISMA. Los resultados muestran un aumento de la representación negativa de la población mayor en los medios de comunicación, reforzando los estereotipos de fragilidad y dependencia. El análisis de contenido fue la metodología predominante. Es necesario aumentar la conciencia sobre los efectos nocivos del edadismo e invertir en investigaciones que ayuden en la producción de políticas públicas para combatirlo.
